What is DCA?

Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy in which you regularly purchase an asset for a fixed amount of money, regardless of its current price. This approach allows you to accumulate more units of the asset when its price is low and fewer units when its price is high. By avoiding the need to predict market fluctuations, DCA reduces risk and provides a reasonable average price for the asset.

DCA is used by many investors on traditional markets and works amazingly with volatile assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Should I wait for correction to start?

The beauty of dollar-cost averaging is that you don't have to time the market. The green line on the chart is the average price of a person starting at the top. The dashed line is the average price of a person starting at the bottom. If the asset eventually goes up, whoever starts first always gets a lower average price.

Why is DCA better than a lump sum investment?

In the short-term, the price may still go up, down, or sideways. Even if you're brave enough to go all-in, the lump sum wins only in the first scenario. DCA wins in two others. The magic of DCA puts you in the green even if the price goes sideways. The amount of dollars spent stays the same, but when price is lower you buy more of the asset.

Can I improve DCA with RSI or Mayer Multiple?

Unfortunately, indicators like RSI can't outperform the market long-term. That would be too easy! The next signal to "buy" is often higher than the previous "sell". There is no simple formula that wins with DCA consistently.

On the chart you can see that the famous Mayer Multiple gave signal to sell, but failed to signal the bottom precisely. By waiting, you missed all the good prices.
